The map
Every page you've made sits in one drawing. Open visual map from the Map tab and the list becomes terrain: each page is a shape you can see from across the room, and every connection between them is drawn.
It's the view for the questions a list can't answer. What's connected to everything? What's floating on its own? Where does this workflow's neighborhood actually stop?
Reading it
A page's shape tells you its type — workflows look like workflows, people like people — so you can pick out the systems in a corner of the map without reading a single label. A page's height is how connected it is: the tall things are the ones the rest of the work leans on.
Click any page to see what it is and what it connects to. Double-click to fly the camera into its neighborhood. Fit map brings you back to the whole thing, and the small overview in the corner both shows you where you are and takes you somewhere when you click it.
Finding things in it
Search doesn't filter the map — it fades everything that doesn't match, so a hit keeps the context around it rather than becoming a lonely dot.
The Types and Tags filters work the other way: pick some and you see only those, and an empty filter means everything. The tag list doubles as the color key when you're coloring by tag.
Making connections from it
Right-click a page and the map becomes somewhere you can work:
- Open page — go to it.
- Show what it connects to — frame its neighborhood.
- Connect this to another page / Connect another page to this — pick the two ends and the link is made, in the direction you asked for. Connections drawn this way are the general kind (
relates_to); open the page itself to say something more specific.
Right-click empty space to fit the whole map again.
Settings
The gear opens four choices that change how the map draws:
ArrangementBy Relationship | By TypeBy Relationship puts connected things near each other, so clusters are real neighborhoods. By Type lines everything up in bands by what it is, which is the better view for auditing coverage — you can see at a glance that you've mapped nine workflows and one system.
Size by linkson | offWhether a page's height reflects how connected it is. Off makes an even landscape when you care about position rather than weight.
Dark modeon | offFor the map specifically, independent of the rest of the app.
Colour by tagoff | top tagsColors pages by the tags they carry, which turns the map into a picture of whatever you tag for — team, status, the area of the business.
Asking zv1 about it
zv1 can look at the map too. Ask it what the map looks like and it answers with a picture of the same drawing, which is the quickest way to get the map into a conversation — or into a summary you're writing with it.
