Compass quickstart

You'll go from raw material — a transcript, an SOP, a notes dump — to a mapped workflow with the people, systems, and pain points around it, and a concrete change — where an AI build, or a simpler fix, could improve the work. You don't have to build the map by hand; Compass can draft it from what you already have.

   Open Compass

   Go to compass.zerowidth.ai, sign in, and pick your workspace.

   Draft the map from source material

   The fastest way in is to let Compass read your material. From the pages list, choose New page → From a description, paste in a transcript, SOP or notes dump, and Compass proposes a set of pages — the workflows, people, systems, and pain points it found — along with how they connect. You review each one, edit in place, drop the noise, and create the rest in a batch.

   This is the difference between mapping the work and staring at a blank canvas: you start from what's already written down and shape it, instead of inventing structure from scratch.

   Fill the gaps by hand

   The draft won't be complete — it never is. Add anything the source didn't mention: a page is one subject (a workflow, a person, a system, a pain point), and you connect them with typed links so the map carries meaning:

   • a Person owns a workflow
   • a workflow uses a System
   • a Pain point affects a workflow

   Follow the edges and the shape of the work appears.

   Capture the tacit knowledge

   The judgment that makes a workflow work usually lives in someone's head. Start a stakeholder interview and send the link to that person; no account needed. They talk through how they actually do it, the transcript is saved to your workspace and attached to them, and the pages it suggests wait in the Inbox for you to keep or drop.

   Surface a change

   Attach a change to a workflow — the specific thing worth trying, anchored to the real work (and, if you like, a particular step within it). Because it comes out of the map you just built, it's concrete: "auto-classify tickets by queue and urgency, using the rules the interview surfaced."

That's one corner of the business mapped. Do a few more and the map becomes something you can search, share, and reason over — a living picture of where the work could improve.
